Thaddeus L. Davis
 Principal 

Mr. Thaddeus L. Davis was recently appointed principal of Lewis Anna Woodbury Elementary.  He has been a school board employee for 33 years.  Before coming to L.A.W., he had served as assistant principal of Curriculum and Administration at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy for ten years. He built the master schedule, placing at-promise students in their classes as well as advanced students in high school courses for credit.  He worked individually with struggling students; drawing up personal plan with the student for his/her success. He worked closely with teachers in monitoring the implementation of the School Improvement Plan across the curriculum.

Mr. Davis assisted with the planning and development of the first county magnet school, Union Academy.  There he served as language arts instructor, team leader, and teacher on assignment for six years.  Previously, he had been an instructor for 15 years at Eagle Lake Elementary School.

He holds the belief that all students can learn and will rise to the occasion when they are expected and shown how to do so.  He has assisted students over the past 33 years to achieve their goals through him serving as summer director for summer camps or youth and young adults sponsored by private businesses.  Mr. Davis holds a Masters of Science in Education Leadership (Nova Southeastern University) and a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education (University of South Florida).

Mr. Davis holds high expectations for our students and staff.  He believes that he and his staff must work the plan by implementing the outlined strategies to ensure that all of the students are successful.

Danna Bakos Lewis Campus
Assistant Principal

Ms. Dana Bakos is the assistant principal on the Lewis Campus.  She has been with the Polk County School Board for 9 years.  Prior to her appointment as assistant principal, Ms. Bakos taught 1st grade and worked as an Instructional Support Teacher and Reading Coach at Loughman Oaks Elementary, as well as Reading Coach at Westwood Middle School.

 Ms. Bakos has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Literature from the University of Central Florida and a Masters in Reading Education and a Masters in Education Leadership from the University of South Florida.  She holds certification in Elementary Education 1-6, Reading Education K-12, Education Leadership All Levels and ESOL endorsement.

  Ms. Bakos’ career has voluntarily been spent in Title I schools as she feels these are the students who need her most and who are most deserving of highly qualified personnel. Ms. Bakos believes that all students should be given the opportunity to reach their potential and believes this is achieved through a school environment that shows respect and caring for all students, while also maintaining high expectations.
